The 8th Principle: Towards a Beloved Community (Listen here)


In the aftermath of the Charlottesville tragedy, and the disturbing rise of white nationalism in our nation, what do we do? Who are we being called to be in response? For Unitarian Universalists, one of our moral guides is our Seven UU Principles. Talk has already been underway of adding a Eighth, which commits us to dismantling oppression such as racism in ourselves and in our institutions, and working instead to building a diverse multicultural Beloved Community. In this service we used the proposed Eighth Principle as a guide to look at this moment in history and envision a better way forward together.
