A Story of Interfaith Rescue
Unitarian Minister Waitstill Sharp and his wife Martha went to Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1939 to rescue Jews, dissidents and other enemies of the Nazi regime. Artemis Joukowsky is the grandson of the Sharps. An author, filmmaker and disabilies activist, Artemis co-directed “Defying the Nazis: The Sharp’s War” with Ken Burns as well as wrote the accompanying book. This documentary and book follow the Sharp’s mission and the stories of those they rescued.
Artemis Joukowsky will deliver the sermon at our morning service (starting at 10:00 a.m.)
The movie about his grandparents will be shown that afternoon at Noon and again 3pm.
