Falmouth’s first Alternative Gift Market (AGM) was organized in 2007 by the Social and Environmental Action Committee to raise funds for worthy nonprofits from Cape Cod, and beyond. The first AGM was a great success and in the following years, other congregations joined in as sponsors and the market location was moved to the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth. This year’s 2023 AGM has been jointly organized and sponsored by seven congregations and supported by 7 additional congregations.

The Alternative Gift Market’s mission is to raise funds for worthy local, national and global organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of people and the health of our planet. These organizations work tirelessly to combat the effects of persistent poverty, injustice and climate change.

The market is a popular event every November in Falmouth. People come to learn about the work of 20 carefully vetted organizations and to shop at the three Fair Trade tables that are part of every market. The best way to learn more is to visit the AGM Cape Cod website where you will see lots of photos and get a sense of the spirit of the Alternative Gift Market.
