Today’s service will be hosted by the Welcoming Congregation Committee with guest presenter, Amanda Johnston, Director of Communications and Public Education for GLAD (GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders). Rosa Whiting will be service associate. Amanda will share an overview of current legal issues impacting LGBTQ+ people and families, as well as GLAD’s work to defend and expand protections for the community. She will lead a conversation about how we as family members, coworkers, neighbors, and community members can show up for one another and advance equality and justice for all.
Since 2007, Amanda has shared the stories behind GLAD’s work in the courts and through legislation to protect and advance the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ+ people. She lives with her wife and puppy on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
