The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth has chosen a new Minister. Currently the Minister of First Church and Parish of Dedham, Reverend Rali Weaver began her service in Falmouth on August 1.
“We’re thrilled she will be with us. She brings us a wealth of experience, a youthful, outgoing personality and a passion for community service,” said Charlotte Harris, President of the Congregation.
Before her 17 year service in Dedham, Reverend Weaver served as assistant minister responsible for Worship, Membership, and Religious Education at King’s Chapel in Boston from 2005-2007. She was also the interim RE director at First UU San Francisco, where she had previously served her ministerial internship. She graduated from Bangor Theological Seminary and studied for two years in the Transformative Studies PhD Department of the California Institute of Integral Studies. Before entering the ministry, she was a special education teacher, primarily working with children with behavioral impairments.
Rali describes herself as a behaviorist and strives to approach every problem with compassion, curiosity, and caring. She believes that churches are more sustainable when they learn to collaborate with their surrounding communities.
Rali was the first female minister of the First Church and Parish of Dedham and will be the first female minister of UU Falmouth. She is an excellent preacher, an expert on pastoral care, a committed leader on social justice issues, a good listener, and someone who can help move the congregation to expand its imagination about what is possible in achieving our mission.
Rali continues to live in the Dedham parsonage while serving the two congregations. There, she lives with her wife of 10 years, Jenny Carlson-Pietraszek, a teacher at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, and their daughters Zoe, 21 (a senior at Bucknell), and Lucy, 20 (a sophomore at UMiami). They also share their lives with two dogs, Suki and Lula.
For the 2024-25 church year Rali splits her time between Falmouth and Dedham, preaching in Falmouth every other Sunday and holding office hours and doing pastoral care on the Friday and Monday. Her first Sunday in the pulpit was August 4, 2024.
UU Falmouth welcomes all to our Sunday Service at 10 a.m. at 840 Sandwich Road in East Falmouth next to the new firehouse.
